Update is provided three times a year by distributing the update files in various forms, such as DVD or Internet download. You can receive those update files from your local distributors in every January, May and October every year. Please check your distributor or our website’s new released notice for availability of new update. You MUST get the update files from your local distributor all the time because G-scan is "Region Sensitive". If you attempt to update your G-scan with update files that were not released for your country, it may be considered as unauthorized update and G-Scan may stop working. [ Update and Support ] G-scan SD card isn’t recognized by my computer The SD card slots in some computers are poorly configured and do not recognize the SD card properly. Please make sure to use SD card reader that is supplied in the G-Scan kit when connecting the SD card to the PC through USB port. [ Update and Support ] My G-scan is locked and it is asking for an activation code. What is counter lock ? In some countries, counter lock feature is applied and it limits the maximum number of vehicle communication that G-Scan can make. When it reaches the limit, G-Scan will show the message to enter the activation code which is provided by your local distributor. [ Update and Support ] What do the padlock signs mean in the menu ? G-scan is updated 4 times a year and if you do not pay for the update after the expiry of free update period, then the functions, models and makes that are newly added after the expiry date will appear with the padlock signs in the menu. To unlock them, you are required to pay for the update period extension and download update files again. [ Update and Support ] What happens if I do not update G-scan. Will it be still working? Yes, G-scan still works even when not updated. If you do not pay for the update after the expiry of valid update period, then the functions, models and makes that are newly added after the expiry date will appear with the padlock signs in the menu. To unlock them, you are required to pay for the update period extension and download update files again. [ Update and Support ] S/N or H/W is unmatched – I can’t use G-scan anymore. This message appears only for the G-scans that have not been updated since the end of 2011. This message indicates that the serial number information is not found or recognized, and it can be experienced in the following events: - G-scan’s serial number has not been registered at GIT’s server properly - G-scan is updated using the outdated version update files - G-scan is updated using the update files released for the other countries (region) Unauthorized attempt to download updates will cause G-Scan to stop operating and shut down by force. Please make sure to register G-Scan before downloading any updates and use the update CD that is provided by your local authorized distributor. [ Update and Support ] Invalid Serial Number – I can’t use G-scan anymore. This message indicates that the serial number information is not found or recognized, and it can be experienced in the following events: - G-scan’s serial number has not been registered at GIT’s server properly - G-scan is updated using the outdated version update files - G-scan is updated using the update files released for the other countries (region) Unauthorized attempt to download updates will cause G-Scan to stop operating and shut down by force. [ Update and Support ] Language Manipulation Lock – I can’t use G-scan anymore. This message pops up in an expectional case that the user tries to manipulate the SD card contents to make a certain language available that is not originally supported by his G-scan. This is the result of illegal manipulation of the G-scan SD card contents, which is a serious breach of terms and conditions for use of G-scan, therefore no warranty service is provided for recovery. G-scan locked for this reason cannot be recovered by the local distributor, and it must be returned to Korea. [ Update and Support ] G-scan is locked for suspected abuse– I can’t use G-Scan anymore. This message pops up in an expectional case that the user repeats the same specific function more than a couple of dozen times, which is not possible for a normal diagnostic procedure. G-scan is programmed to show the warning message to stop repeating the function in 9 different languages on the screen before finally it becomes locked to protect its proprietary information. If the G-scan is locked, then it means that the user ignored this message. G-scan locked for this reason can be recovered by the local distributor one time only, so please contact your local distributor for support. 12
