What’s the difference from Hyundai or Kia OEM G-scan ?

G-scan is the secondary OEM for Hyundai and Kia, except US and other some countries. G-scan OEM version is being used by Hyundai and Kia authorized dealerships. G-Scan OEM is loaded with either Hyundai or Kia software ONLY. G-Scan Aftermarket contains multiple brand software including not only Hyundai and Kia, but also other Japanese, Korean, European, and various local makes. G-scan Aftermarket does not support the dealer-only functions such as reprogramming or "Events" which G-scan OEM does.

Can I load aftermarket S/W to OEM G-scan ?

No, you cannot do this because hardware of the two products are different. Therefore, not compatible. If you attempt to do this, it is considered as unauthorized update and G-scan may stop operating; which is not subject to warranty service.

What are the Hyundai and Kia keyless adapter ?

The adapter uniquely supplied with G-scan is used for coding the keyless entry system of Hyundai and Kia cars.

What is the Self-test adapter for ?

Many of communication failures with the cars are often found caused by the defective cable connectors, or the problems on the vehicle side. G-scan provides Self-Test function that helps the customer determine whether the communication problem is caused by the base unit’s internal hardware / software reasons or by the external factors.

What are INTERNATIONAL and JAPAN DOMESTIC in the Japanese car menu ?

JAPAN DOMESTIC means “Japanese domestic version cars sold in Japan” If you are not testing the secondhand Japanese cars directly imported from Japan, you do not have to select this. INTERNATIONAL includes all regional variations, therefore you are always recommended to select “INTERNATIONAL” all the time if you are not using G-Scan for Japanese domestic cars.

Can I use G-scan as a J2534 or Pass-Thru device ?

G-scan2 with (May/2016) software version supports pass-thru mode for programming the ECU’s of Hyundai & Kia vehicles.

Also for the other brands, if the OEM diagnostic software requires a J2534 pass-thru device as the communication module for diagnostic functions, G-scan2 can be used as the standard J2534 communication module.
G-scan2 is officially validated for programming Hyundai and Kia vehicles sold in the United States, therefore programming the vehicle ECUs of the other brand or sold outside US have not been validated, therefore not recommended. G-scan1 is not compatible with J2534 or Pass-Thru functions. More detail information, please ask us via G-scan2 Tech Q&A board.
